The Wait

The Wait

She watched me stealthily, out of the corner of her eye. I whipped around to catch her in the act, but her nose was buried in the book by then.

I turned back to the counter, hand on my hip and observed the clock over the stove. It was twenty to eight.

The doorbell rang. She leapt out of her chair and went racing for the door. A smile escaped my lips.

He stepped in, scooped her up in his strong arms and gently kissed his daughter’s cheek.

  1. A BIIIG Yess to that πŸ™‚ IT happens all the time, and I can see it happen, even if my little P is a little less than 2 yrs old πŸ™‚ And my mom tells me I was the same as a kid, so I have no reasons to complain πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Good one πŸ™‚ Cute imagery you've created !

  2. I was more a momma's girl, while my sister cozied up to my dad. And, as time progressed, the bond towards both parents equalised and became filled with love. So, there is always hope πŸ™‚

  3. It's true! Daughter's love is the purest! Reminds me of the time when my Dad was posted elsewhere and I used to wait for days to meet him.. *nostalgic*
    Lovely take on the prompt!
