9 years a Mom: An Anniversary and a Giveaway

9 years a Mom: An Anniversary and a Giveaway

I’m so excited I can barely type but here goes.

On August 21st, 2007, a year and a month after Gy was born, I took the first baby steps myself, as a blogger. Diary of a Doting Mom, the place many of you know and shower your love upon each week, began on that special day.

Fairly simple, almost inconspicuous, was the very first post that made its debut. I had no grand dreams for the blog, no vision as a writer but just wanted to put a few things down for myself to read years later.

Come 2013 July and all of that changed. From a fledgling bird the blog grew to become a confident bird, trying new heights, flying just a bit higher with each reach of its wings.

Within the next 3 years it has done so much for me that I cannot possibly put it all down here at one shot, so I’ll save that for a separate post or page on the site.

But there are two things I must shareΒ today and both give me immense joy.

Diary of a Doting Mom is now officially self-hosted. After my long stint with Blogger, I have finally moved to my own self-hosted website and the thrill is beyond compare. Words fail me at the moment and if you know me, you’d understand what that means exactly.

All my gratitude for this must go to twoΒ very important people: One, my wonderful, amazing husband who always encourages me, come what may. He proudly shares with people he knows, that his wife is a blogger and to me, that’s true love, right there! πŸ˜€

Two, a very dear blogger friend, Vishal Kataria, who took care of the entire migration process from Blogger to self-hosted WordPress for me. Blogging has brought me many, many, many friends and I don’t use the word ‘many’ lightly here. Vishal is one of the best people to have in your team and his blog is a testament to the kind of person he is. Vishal, I am still overwhelmed with gratitude for everything you’ve done. Trust me.

I’d be remiss if I didn’tΒ mention a few very staunch behind-the-scenes supporters and fellow bloggers during this process. So, thank you, Rachna, Sid, Aparna, Vidya and Nabanita. I can always count on you all.

For the first time ever, I am hosting a giveaway on the blog and what better way to kick start the new hosted space than with books to be given away, right?

Since this is a blog about Gy and since she does have a LOT of books, I figured that it would be ideal to let her do the deed. Here are 8 of her books up for grabs for you, dear readers.

Β So, check out the books below and mention in the comments which title you’d prefer. Winners will be chosen by lucky draw by my daughter.

{The only catch is that it is restricted to those with an Indian mailing address.}

Wait, there’s more.

Amazon gift card
Winner: Deepa Malhotra Gandhi

I am also giving away ONE Amazon voucher worth INR 250/= in addition to the books above. Those who don’t get the books in the lucky draw will have their names entered in the voucher draw. So hey, you might win that! Fingers crossed.

Thank you to everyone who reads my blog and who gave me the belief that this was a move worth making. Thank you for your support, your kind words, your comments, your shares and all your love.

I’m always in your debt.
