Take a moment

Take a moment

Today I’ll begin to mean the words that I say
Today I will cherish the moments when you call me to play

Today I will put the laptop away
Today I will sit by your side and stay

I have no work that cannot wait
I have no task that is so great

That it takes me away from your Β eager look
When you wait for me to read you a book

This moment is where I need to be
This second is what I need to feel

These days will never return
No, they won’t

You’ll be all grown up
And I will miss it all the most

For my daughter

This is written in response to the Wednesday Prompt #10 over at

  1. what a heartfelt poem it is. Please preserve all the moments that you can have with her because that's the gift she will have from you for rest of her life.

  2. “This moment is where I need to be”…. Aawww – loved it!! What a beautiful hymn to the everyday life and the importance of being right here and now:-)

  3. Such a cute one this is and the pic is so adorable. Yes children grow up so soon….and each moment spent with them is memories treasured forever!
