I have a confession to make.
I’ve never really spent too much time taking care of myself or my skin. For one thing, I’m fairly lazy about it. Honestly, the time it takes to moisturise and exfoliate is not something I do well. Plus, given my issues with urticaria and general dryness in the often cold and wintry climes of Bangalore, I’ve never found the urge to follow a routine religiously.
This isn’t new, by the way. I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. Ask anyone who knew me from back in college or school and they’d nod and tell you that they’ve rarely seen me investing in a skin care regimen.
On the other hand, I’ve been a tad more concerned when it comes to Gy pretty much from Day 1. Given the maternal instinct and perhaps a bit of worry that she may inherit my urticaria/dryness, I’ve tried to get her to follow a routine of sorts. But kids only follow what they observe, not what you instruct. So after a bit of a struggle, I gave up and told her to do what she could when she remembered to do it.
So when Mooi Naturals reached out to ask me if I could review their Baby Care products, I hesitated for two reasons:
- We’ve already established that I’m not very committed to the skin care routine.
- I don’t have a baby at home. Well, Gy will always be my baby but you know what I mean.
Brushing aside both concerns, they assured me that the products could be used by older kids and adults as well. So I hopped over to their website and read up on what this meant exactly and here’s what I discovered.
What Mooi Naturals promises:
- 100% natural products
- Completely vegan ingredients
- Scent free, keeping baby’s tender skin in mind
- No artificial colours
- Not tested on animals
My Experience
Impressed, I agreed to check out the baby care line, because you can never be too safe with kids. Promptly, they sent across this adorably packaged set of items which contained the following:
- Lavender Chamomile Baby Soap
- Rosemary baby hair treat oil
- Talc-free lavender rose baby powder
- Baby almond lotion
- Baby diaper rash cream with tea tree essential oil
When Gy walked in the door from school, she was drawn by the colours on the box and then meticulously she checked each item to see what they were. I didn’t pay much heed because she does this with everything new anyway.
To my surprise though, she insisted on trying out the products (except for the diaper rash cream) from the very next day! The pleasant, natural aroma of each item was tempting enough for me to try them out too.
Lavender Chamomile Baby Soap:
This feels very soft on the skin and doesn’t leave it feeling dry after use. I’m guessing the chamomile and lavender have a role to play in this aspect. The aroma is very soothing and quite unlike any of the chemical ones you get in store-brought soaps. Read another user’s review here.
Rosemary baby hair treat oil:
We recently got Gy a crop cut, thanks to the influence of the movie ‘Dangal’ (a story for another day) and in a way it’s been a relief! I don’t find myself rushing about in the mornings worrying about tying/combing her hair. It’s made her very self reliant too since she brushes her hair herself now. The hair oil came to her aid since it gently nudges the stiff ends into place and gives her a groomed look. Plus, she loves the way it feels on her head.
Talc-free lavender rose baby powder
This was honestly one thing I never thought would be used because I’ve never used much powder on Gy. To my surprise though, she gently pats it out onto her palms and dabs it on her neck each day. I swear she’s not got it from me! This item has some interesting ingredients such as arrow root powder, kaolin clay, rose clay and lavender buds. The lavender smell is very soothing and pleasant to the olfactory senses.
Mooi Naturals affirms that the talcum is chemical free and has the goodness of Mother Nature. The presence of kaolin clay helps to absorb excess moisture and relieves excess sweating.
Baby almond lotion
Unlike other lotions in the market, this item has a very interesting consistency. If you are familiar with cocoa butter which is generally used for managing stretch marks among pregnant woman, then you’d understand. Interestingly, though, this has no cocoa butter but a combination of natural oils which gives you the texture.
The lotion is thick and spreads comfortably across the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and soft to touch. The presence of Vitamin E, sweet almond and lavender essential oils make for a soothing effect on the skin.
Baby diaper rash cream with tea tree essential oil
Mooi Naturals affirms that this is their best-selling product in their entire baby care range and with good reason too! Moms looking for a natual, chemical-free solution for their baby’s diaper rashes will be thrilled with this item. Here’s what another user had to say about the cream.
With each application, the goodness of natural ingredients did help heal my baby’s nappy rashes and made the skin incredibly soft. I always prefer to go with natural products than with chemical laden products.

As mentioned, this is the one item which we haven’t used personally. I’ve kept it aside to give to my sister who has a 7-month-old baby at home. She’s pretty particular about using natural products too on the kids so I’m sure she’d like this range of items.

Looks like a wonderful range of products. Bring natural certainly is a big plus. You know l love baby care products. Recently l got a baby lotion for review and the younger son loved using it though he is Gy’s age. They are gentler and creamier.
As always a lovely review.
The products look good. It is good that these natural products are coming in the market… Too expensive imported products are not so great most of the time.
Mooi looks perfect as a gift to new mothers.
I’m not obsessed with skin-care products but I do need a decent moisturiser in the winter. Oh but you should see N – how lovingly she moisturises herself. And she adores creams and lotions making me roll my eyes :-). I just may try these, only for her.
Looking at all these products I myself want to try them. I used to use Johnson baby powder till last year… And then came out with a research saying it causes ovarian. I still use the baby oil I love watching kids apply cosmetics and all those lotions on themselves. It’s so cute and fun.
Ohh I forgot to mention… How on earth can you gave that flawless peachy skin without taking care of it like seriously… If you visit me at home, you would find neem , clay, turmeric, besan, honey, cinnamon and all other items from the fridge on my face and still I battle acne.
Jo Jweet! I like the name. Mooi. So nice! I enjoyed your review!
Interesting…. My two kids have sensitive skin… And this should be perfect for them. I would be keen on the hair oil. Would check it up online.
